Christea Mairy
Mary Christea was born in Athens in 1949. She studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts with a scholarship from the National Scholarships Foundation, under Nikos Nikolaou and Giannis Moralis (1967-1973). At the completion of her studies she was admitted to the Raimund Girke painting lab at the Staatliche Hochschule fur Bildende Kunste, Berlin, while she attended also literature and philosophy courses. She taught drawing for ten years at Plakas Center (1990-2000). Her work includes painting, construction, photography and video. She has shown her work at eight solo shows and several group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. She is a member of the groups Indoors and Indoors plus. Several of her works belong to the collections of Macedonian Museum of Modern Art in Thessaloniki, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete, the American College of Greece, and private collections. She lives and works in Athens.
